The InDeRe Food Research and Innovation Institute's new study investigates the relationship between food price volatility and food security. The research focuses on how fluctuating market prices affect access to safe, sufficient, and high-quality food.
The study concentrates on the E7 countries (Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, and Turkey), analyzing data from 2000 to 2024. Preliminary findings suggest that price fluctuations can pose significant challenges, particularly in vulnerable economic and social environments.
The research also examines the extent to which sound institutional operations, transparent regulations, and effective government actions can mitigate adverse effects. Special attention is given to the role of political stability, regulatory quality, and the reduction of corruption.
The institute employs modern statistical and economic methods to precisely uncover the connection between market uncertainty and social risks. The study aims to provide scientifically grounded results to support the development of more resilient and sustainable food systems.
